We're Back!

Well, we are back in Grenada. After six months on a tropical island we decided to have a little vacation before we head back to the thawing north, so we took the short flight over to Barbados. We will post a longer and more detailed post in a few days when we get back to Manitoba but here are a couple teaser pictures.

Question of the week: After a long (or even short) time away from home, what did you first want to do/eat/experience when you got back?

We are looking forward to farmer sausage, verinike, a house to ourselves, bicycles, dogs without fleas, silence, private transportation and our families.

I'm one of those silent ones who has thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog and viewing your photos! Thanks for keeping in touch that way. When we're traveling we try to tune in to CBC radio for hundreds of miles before we get home and are thrilled when we can begin to understand some of the staticky garble!
Congratulations on your new house.
Looking forward to seeing you and it. from Bob and Ruth

Well, when we got back home from Costa Rica after being gone for 5 weeks. All I wanted was a quiet sleep in our own bed. The thing I dream about eating whenever we go away for a long time is Pork chops with mushroom gravy,Mashed potatoes, corn and fresh buns. That is always what I make for supper within a few days of getting home.Yum, it makes me want some right now.Wendy

Wendy, I can't seem to find your email address, so I'll guess here. Um...is it a puppy? :) Really, I have absolutely NO idea, but you certainly have my curiosity piqued! Maybe a toque? I'm hoping I won't need one, but I'm sure that's wishful thinking. Plus, most toques aren't 'really cute'. See you soon,
Kristy

ps. Thank you Lori, Bob & Ruth, Mom, Alison and Wendy for commenting. We really enjoy when the blog becomes more interactive.

I would really like to send you a pic. but I don't have your e-mail adress either because our computer crashed and I lost all our address book. But I'll give you another hint. umm, you will need it on your farm. Most of your family dosen't like them. But I heard from your sister that you do. Though she doesn't really to much. But her children do.

Hey Kristy & Jason,
Love the pics of BArbados! When I lived there, we lived quite close to Carlisle bay, and went there often! Did you go scuba diving in the bay and see all the sea life on the sunken ships? Wow. Such a cool memory for me. And Harrison CAves! I went there too. I guess BArbados is pretty small, so it's likely I went to almost all the places you went to, but it's so exciting that you went there! I would love to go back one day. It's so beautiful there!

As for what I want to eat (being in Indonesia and away from home): REAL cheese. REAL milk. red meat - anything - hamburger, steak, ground beef (or buffalo or moose or deer would be preferable). what else... Smirnoff Ice, Tim HOrtons chili & doughnut, mmmm...alfredo sauce with real cream... Oh! whipping cream. mmm... that would be good. berries, fruit smoothies with Malibu Coconut Rum in them, oh, how could I forget, WHOLE GRAIN BREAD. and I definitely wouldn't eat rice if I were home right now!
Twice a day is enough for me. :) Spinach salad would be pretty darn good too.

WEll, have fun back in CAnada & in your new home. so much to look forward to! WE're planning a trip to Manitoba sometime after we get back from Indonesia (in 2 years). Will you still have your futon available?

Love Carmen :)
